Great Elephant Census at SCGIS
Last June, I attended the Society for Conservation GIS Conference at Asilomar, California. This conference gathers many GIS professionals working in nonprofits, private sector, and also sponsors a cohort of international scholars. This was the first time that someone Vulcan attended SCGIS, and my colleague Paul made also made a presentation on using machine-learning to identify elephants from drone
We had a great time - my wife, our friend Lillian, and I made the road trip from Seattle down to the south end of Monterey bay.
Here’s the presentation that I made on Vulcan’s signature wildlife conservation project: the Great Elephant Census.
